Are You Creative?

If you love creating things then this may be the volunteer role for you!

Individuals and sewing groups throughout Australia dedicate their time and creative skills to support Bosom Buddies. They contribute by crafting helpful items and patient aids, known as Buddy Gifts, which are packed into our Buddy Bags and Oncology Packs.

In 2023, over 2,500 patient aids were created by our volunteers to be included in more than 850 Buddy Bags that were gifted to breast cancer patients in Canberra’s public and private hospitals and in regional New South Wales.

The patterns are simple and can be downloaded here or you can send an email requesting the patterns by clicking on the pink button.

On my arrival at the hospital I met the nursing staff then taken to my room. To my surprise I was handed a bag containing helpful items for use after surgery. What a wonderful gift. Thank you so much.

I was devastated when I received the news that I had breast cancer. I was given a Buddy Bag and held it close to my heart - and knew that I wasn’t alone and that someone cares.

I kept the bag on the kitchen table and when I felt down I looked at it to remind myself that there is support for me at Bosom Buddies and that there are lots of people who show that they care through the beautiful gifts in the bag. It’s filled with love, thank you.
